A continuous work in progress
This Clearinghouse is about learning, sharing and connecting. Our goal is to provide practitioners, advocates, policy makers, researchers and anyone else interested in building systems to support the out-of-school time workforce, with a space to learn and share information about what’s working across the country to help build a skilled and stable workforce.
The Clearinghouse is an ever-changing and growing database. It is not a definitive list of all OST workforce initiatives, but a sampling of what is going on across the country. If you would like to include your program of any other workforce initiative, please take a minute to tell us about it by using the submit box below.
A few notes about terminology for this web site:
- The out-of-school time workforce includes individuals working in before or afterschool programs with children and youth aged 6-18.
- A workforce development initiative or project is any local, statewide, or national effort focused on making a permanent or sustainable change that will result in better systems of education, training, compensation, or recruitment and retention for the out-of-school time workforce.
- The workforce categories listed here represent elements that we recognize as key aspects of building a sustainable system that results in high quality staff and programs.
